Memories- Moments that rapture are meant to capture
A close friend of mine once told me that there are no memories, we recreate them. On face value, this seemed very blank and sort of something that didn't make sense. But throughout the day I kept wondering about it and maybe it made sense to me later. Well, that is the thing about memories- you don't consciously decide which ones to remember or which ones to forget and annoyingly the ones we desperately want to forget is the one that keeps barging in your mind like a person in a hurry ringing your doorbell. But there are some of the magical nostalgic moments that you know have gone but still have a good time reminiscing about them and that is your very own school memories.
But even the ones that you remember from school memories are the ones that have been experienced by you and your best friends. It would hardly include the most eventful instances or programmes/functions organized and conducted at school. The best ones will always be about the chatter between lectures, annoying particular classmates, picking on professors or games played be it either in the playground or in the classroom during lunch break. The one thing to notice here is that the picture of that experience that is painted in your mind is not the factual incidents but how you personally felt in those moments, it could either be your expectations taking a hit or observing something that nobody even thought of.
The reason certain memories are cherished is because of the fact that we didn't realize it to be of such importance in that moment and also the lack of such heart felt experiences occurring in your life later. But there are certain phases in your life where you manifest during the times that are hard to process and you know for sure that this phase will be recalled and will be counted as a blessing later on. But the most beautiful and adorable memories are the ones that just get created out of nowhere. But there are incidents that have occurred in the past that instill in you a deepest sense of fear and to an extent create a phobia. These are the ones which we are ready to trade anything for just to be erased from our memory. Proverbs like ''A burnt child dreads fire'' encapsulate very well what I'm talking about.
Growing up, our memory refresher was that ''childhood album'' which we always held on to. And possibly every photograph brought a fresh wave of nostalgia with it that instilled a sense of exhilaration. Be it that embarrassing photo of yours clicked by your parents in spite you refraining, or that amusing poses near that monument, and those breezy evenings at the beach and all of those captured in a device that was meant to only click photographs. Since only finite number of photographs were possible to be clicked, it made those moments invaluable unlike today where the abundance of everything has made moments meaningless. Those few low resolution photographs captured what the ultra high definition smartphone cameras cannot even imagine.
The fascinating aspect about memories shared by people is that each person has their own narratives explaining those moments and experiences which makes them wonder how could the same experience be so different for each of us. Sadly when we take a trip down memory lane more than often, we are downhearted for not able to live such moments presently instead of adoring those good times which have gone by. Therefore, memories even good ones can leave you disheartened at times because of the nature in which you reminisce it. But nonetheless such encounters is what makes us worth living. This endeavor of mine was to make these last few minutes memorable one for you and I hope it cherishes your mind rather than perishing from your mind!
So true❤️❤️
